Roxy decided that she needed to be in the photo
This makes me laugh so hard. Like a photobombing bird torpedo.
Congratulations on your recreation of the classic surrealist painting Man in a Bowler Hat by Rene Magritte (1964)
oh my god.
Ha! He’s finally done!
I’m back in Halifax now and going off of the Dipper and Mabel gifs I did before, I wanted to do one of Bill! I’ve been working on it off and on for most of this week but it’s been a fun exercise. Mabel and Dipper’s gifs have been inbetweened now so expect cleaned up/coloured/shaded versions of those up sometime in the future too.
Karen done an amazing work on this gif!! O.o she is talented!!
Holy wow, Karen!
Government is good.
Big Brother is watching you.
The State wants to take care of you.
north Korea scares me to death. the fact that a place like that still exists in modern day. those people are prisoners.
1984 is here and now
this is too 1984 to be real
why the fuck have i barely heard anything about this shit? Why aren’t more people outraged about this? and talking about this? this is fucking horrible! Something has to be done it’s fucking 2014 why the fuck is this even happening
i have family in North Korea that no one has seen since the war.
Why isn’t anyone telling us about this?
I’m a sophomore in high school. Who gives a shit about The Second Great Awakening? What about this? What about the Korean Reich that’s strangling it’s own people? Why hasn’t anyone at least pretended to care? Fuck Beyoncé, fuck whatever is coming soon to theaters. Why isn’t the suffering of human beings the first headline in the NY Times? Why hasn’t my history teacher taken a moment out of the 53 minutes in our class to inform us? Why?
There’s no oil there to steal, so the richer countries of the world couldn’t care less.
no one is talking about this because no one is supposed to know this information
No does anything because North Korea is incredibly isolationist, refuses to listen to anyone - not even the Chinese on whom they depend for pretty much everything - and they lash out violently at perceived slights. Hell, they’re still technically at war with the United Nations.
Basically, doing anything takes one of two paths:
- Waiting for North Korea to collapse from within probably after their military gets fed up with Kim Jong Un, allowing South Korea to easily annex the place and then clean this shit up.
- War breaking out between the Koreas. North Korea would almost certainly throw everything they have left - including nuclear, chemical and biological - at the populations of South Korea, Japan and whoever else they could lob a rocket at. Untold millions would be dead.
So in effect, there’s nothing that can be done at this time due to the way North Korea interacts with the rest of the world. There are no carrots to dangle, no threats to be made, no sanctions that be put into place that’d move their leadership to give a damn about their slave-populace.
Just a set of quick photos I did for class.

exactly what chronic illness looks like. mental or physical. this is a great illustration, which perhaps people with more empathy than “you lazy bum” can relate to.

HISTORY MEME | 1/10 moments: Jadwiga is Crowned King of Poland.
The coronation ceremony that took place in the Wawel Cathedral in Krakow on 16 October 1384 was truly a splendid event: Polish nobles spared no expenses and the grandeur of the coronation impressed everyone present. But the historical significance was even greater. For one thing, the young girl who was being crowned (only 11 years old at the time) was to go down in history as one of Poland’s greatest and most beloved Monarchs. And for another, the aforementioned lady was crowned not as Queen of Poland (as would be expected considering her gender) but as King.
There is no humorous tale of a mix-up: the decision was made for quite practical reasons. Polish law was very specific that the ruler had to be King – but it did not state the King had to be a male. And so instead of re-writing the law and to emphasise the fact Jadwiga was a ruler in her own right, it was decided she should be crowned as Hedvig Rex Poloniæ (Hedwig, King of Poland) and not Hedvig Regina Poloniæ (Hedwig, Queen of Poland).

My favourite translator said that when she was an ambassador for Hungary she took all these Japanese politicians on a tour and she was trying to circumtranslate ‘merry go round’ cause she didn’t know the Japanese word for it by calling it a ‘horse tornado for children’ and they had no blessed idea what she was saying and she finally started running in circles going up and down and they go ‘ohhhhh, in Japan we call those ‘merry-go-rounds’”
